Privacy policy

Questions you ask. The products you ask about and the Briefs generated for them are stored. Briefs are cached and may be shown to other people who ask about the same product, and the freshest Brief for a product may appear on its public page. Your identity is never attached to a Brief shown to anyone else.

An anonymous session. A random identifier is set in a cookie so that Briefs work without an account and so daily limits can be applied. It contains no personal data.

Your account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, Lately stores the email address, name and profile image that provider shares, and the anonymous session is linked to your account.

Trackers and alerts. The products you track, the schedule, and the alert emails sent to you, including whether an alert was opened.

Billing. Payments are handled by Stripe. Lately stores your Stripe customer reference and plan, never your card details.

Product usage. Events such as a Brief being viewed, a tracker being created or a paywall being shown, tied to your session or account, used to measure whether the product works.

To answer your questions, to run your trackers and send the alerts you asked for, to apply plan limits, to take payment for Plus, and to understand how the product is used. Lately does not sell personal data and does not show advertising.

Lately runs on hosted infrastructure and uses third-party processors for specific jobs: a hosted Postgres database and cache for storage, Stripe for payments, an email delivery service for alerts, Google and Apple for sign-in, and Anthropic’s API to synthesise Briefs from the public posts Lately gathers. Only the text needed for each job is sent to each processor.

Briefs quote public posts and link to their source. Lately does not store the profiles of the people quoted beyond the public handle shown with the quote.

Briefs expire from the cache after a set period and are regenerated when asked for again. Account data, trackers and alerts are kept while your account exists. Signing out of Lately ends your session.
